I am a seasoned communications and software engineer with more than 18 years experience in the fields of software development and communications systems. I have worked on some of the biggest communications projects in South Africa and I am proud to have worked with and been mentored by the best in the business. A couple of years ago I decided to start a business and focus my time and energy on being an entrepreneur, a journey that has lead me to learn some hard but well deserved lessons. I strive for perfection in everything I do and I leave a lasting touch of quality and passion on my work.
On to the first person…Very much of an introvert and a lover of anything technological, avid computer game addict and I love the smell of a freshly pressed book. I have learned to handle life as it comes and make the most out of the situations I am in, hence the career split between software and communications hardware. I am also passionate about passing down my knowledge and experience to those who are willing to learn and I am often asked to mentor those starting a new business or students new to the industry.
The turn of events in my life has allowed me to work with some of the best companies in South Africa and I have aligned myself as a consultant with the best companies internationally.

I was approached to head the portfolio for this rapidly growing company in 2022 and accepted the challenge. I have an opportunity to mentor and coach the technical staff on standard operating procedures and implement policies and procedures from the ground up
Schauenburg Systems/Stratosat Datacom

2020 was a difficult year for all of us, learning to adjust to the “new normal”, wearing masks and sanitizing everything we interact with. This brought major changes to the telecoms industry and I had to make a tough decision to weather the storm or to go back to my mining systems roots. As fate would happen, I found myself back in the mining industry with Schauenburg as a product manager for their SmartMine IoT portfolio, with a focus on driving solutions to the mining vertical and driving the value of data driven solution deployment
SqwidNet, A Division of Dark Fibre Africa
2019 to 2020
Customer Solutions Delivery Manager

The SqwidNet Internet of Things (IoT) network offers low-cost access to IoT solutions and operators in South Africa, creating opportunities for businesses small and large to create innovative solutions that change lives. SqwidNet is a wholly owned subsidiary of DFA, the premier open-access fibre connectivity provider.
I had an opportunity to learn something new in 2019, in the emerging narrow and IoT space in South Africa. SqwidNet gave me the opportunity to grow with a fast paced, young and dynamic company. My role is directly linked to the company’s operating revenue and the projects I manage are critical to the growth of the company. I consider this role a great opportunity not only to learn some new technology, but also to learn more about business.

Principal Engineer: Surface Mining Technologies

Hexagon Mining gave me exposure to large scale industrial autonomous mining systems. I had a blast working with the mining planning, safety and fleet management systems. Everyday in the office, or in the field, brought a new challenge and I worked with a hard working and dynamic team of engineers that are passionate about their trade.
M H Technologies PTY (ltd)
2015 to 2018
Managing Director
M H Technologies builds unified communication systems around two way radio, enterprise Wi-Fi, handheld computing and third party application integration. Either through our consulting services, taking direct ownership and risk of our clients projects, or through providing our services to our direct end-user customers, we make business sense of RF.
There is a need for a go-to service provider in the niche communications sector and I decided that I would be of more value as a consultant filling that gap than chasing the corporate ladder. M H Technologies provides a service platform in a very rich product driven market, allowing resellers to expand their customer base through an outsourced partner that ensures customer retention. Scaling projects from small to enterprise, I cater for any customer and my name and status is well known in mainstream industries.
Jascom PTY(ltd)
October to December 2014
Technical Project Manager
Jascom is a Motorola Solutions partner, a company that delivers integrated communications solutions to various vertical markets requiring private, end to end communications solutions.
Now this was an interesting little company to work for. Founded by a former colleague that I worked with at Altech, he chased his dreams and made a huge success of his business. I was approached by the owner to manage the technical back-end and project implementation side of things. This was done on a shoestring budget, but I managed to implement some open source backend systems that streamlined smaller tasks and I worked on some reusable project containers for reuse in future projects. I also learnt what an impact my resignation had on the industry and the weight my expertise has.
Many hard lessons learnt about how easily mistakes and a little bit of greed can destroy not only a friendship, but a solid business relationship
Altech Alcom Radio Holdings
2010 to 2014
Technical Product Manager

Altech Alcom Radio is the leading two-way radio provider to the Southern African dealer market and is based in Woodmead, Johannesburg with branches in Cape Town and Durban.
Altech Alcom was a great company to work for, not only was I given the opportunity to further my studies at the University of Stellenbosch but I was mentored by the best people in the communications industry. I was allowed to flex my intellectual muscle and not a single day went by without being presented with a new and exciting challenge. I was given the task of managing a large portfolio of products and a technical team that provided technical backing. We implemented some large scale projects and I was part of the team that supplied FIFA with radio communications during the 2010 soccer world cup
Adroit PLC
2007 to 2010
Systems Engineer
Adroit Technologies is a privately held South African-based software development company and has been developing award winning real-time software for the industrial automation markets for over 25 years.
Adroit manufactures one of the best logic controllers that I have worked with. Very versatile and scales well with customers’ requirements. They also have a wide array of tools and the best support structure. I learnt a fair bit about project management, low level electronic programming, working in complex teams of engineers and it was my first time working in the mining industry.
Trapeace South Africa
2002 to 2006
Field Support Technician
Trapeace builds, supplies and maintains speed prosecution equipment that includes back-end traffic fine processing systems..
This was the starting point of my career and what a way to get things going. A South Korean based company offered me an opportunity as an intern and as a student looking to make some cash, I dove in head first. It took getting used to the cultural norms, especially the 12 hour work day, of the company but I soon adjusted to their way of working and their cultural nuances. My knowledge and enjoyment for electronics started here and they we extremely flexible allowing the opportunity to finish my studies
